Parent Square
This is an app that you can download right to your phone or you can log in on your computer. Classroom teachers can send quick messages to parents/guardians of the entire class or individuals (as long as you're signed up) and they come in like a text message.
This is a great way to get a quick question answered as well as getting those last minute reminders and limits the amount of paper sent home (yay!).

Feedback
This year, we will be using an app called Seesaw to share what your child is working on. We will also use it for some assignments or other activities assigned to your child. This could be pictures of creations they've made, reading a section of text, sharing their thinking in a group or with a partner or even reading a story they've written. We hope you find that this is a more immediate form of feedback on how your child is doing. Students and teachers can snap a picture or record a video and upload it to their Seesaw journal so parents/guardians can view.
2022-2023 Supply ListThis is a general list for 2nd grade. Your child's teacher may have more specific items that will be shared in their 'Welcome Letter' that you will receive sometime in August.
Student Supplies
*Bandaids *Optional Items for classroom: Kleenex, bandaids, Ziplock Bags (quart size) *Items not needed: pencil top erasers, mechanical pencils, decorative folders/ notebooks → Please note: you do not need to label supplies as long as they are in some sort of bag labeled with your child’s name. I will have specific labels to put on items. *Your child’s teacher will share a list of items specific to their classroom in the Welcome Letters sent home in August. |
Co-Curricular ScheduleThis year, NSE will continue to run a block schedule. This means that each day of the week, the students will not have the same special.
Instead, we will be on a rotating schedule-ABCD days. Depending on what day it is (A, B, C or D) will determine what co-curricular (formerly called Specials) your child's class will be at. Schedules coming soon! Dudek

SnacksIt is expected that if students wish to have a snack, they bring one to school. Students will not be able to share snacks due to health & safety reasons. Please try your best to give your child a healthy snack as well-fruit, crackers, pretzels, vegetables, etc. This helps give them the energy they need for their day.
As a leader, it is a good idea to have your child take responsibility for this and pack their own snack :) |
Parties and Birthday TreatsThis year, students will plan their parties as a class. Teachers will then send out a sign up via Parent Square for items to donate.
As far as birthday celebrations, the district has taken on a new view in the recent years regarding birthday treats. Per our Superintendent Dr. Shawn Ryan, students will not be allowed to bring in a birthday treat that is food. They can however, bring an alternative item such as pencils, erasers, etc. If you need ideas or have questions on what to bring, please let me know. Also, if your child has a birthday celebration outside of school and wishes to invite friends from school, we ask that you do not send the invitations to school to be passed out unless you are inviting the entire class. Passing out only a few invitations in a class can cause some problems. While we understand that this can be a quick and easy way to invite friends, we ask that you handle this process outside of school. This is also a school rule we are looking to enforce. We appreciate your cooperation in advance :) Thank you for your understanding! |
